Iron Fitting

Iron gapping is the first thing to fall apart when density altitude shifts — a set that reads clean 15-yard gaps at home can bunch up or spread out somewhere else.

Why Gapping Drifts

Every Iron Reacts a Little Differently

Shorter irons carry a lower ball flight and are less sensitive to density altitude than longer irons, which means a set that gaps perfectly at home can compress in the long irons and stay roughly normal in the short irons once you're playing somewhere higher. We map each club individually instead of assuming a uniform shift across the set.

Lie angle matters just as much as loft here — a lie that's a couple degrees off sends shots left or right regardless of what the air is doing.

What We Adjust

Levers We Pull During an Iron Session

01

Lie Angle

Checked with impact tape on a lie board so the sole is flat at impact, not just close.

02

Loft & Gapping

Set makeup adjusted club by club so the carry distance between every iron stays consistent across your typical playing conditions.

03

Shaft Flex & Length

Matched to your tempo and attack angle, with length checked against how your dispersion changes at each increment.

Set Composition

Where Hybrids Should Take Over

For many golfers, the long-iron gapping problem is best solved by replacing the 3- and 4-iron with hybrids rather than fighting to keep them consistent across conditions. We'll walk through set makeup options during your session.

Book Your Iron Session

Iron set fittings run 60–90 minutes and include a full gapping report.
